Terms of Service & User Agreement

1. Your account

• You must provide an accurate email address and keep your password confidential.
• You are responsible for activity that happens under your account.
• If you create accounts for children in your household, you do so as their parent or guardian and remain responsible for their use of the app.

2. Family groups and shared information

Joining a family group means sharing information with the other members of that group.

• Tasks, task comments, chat messages, Fam points and shared locations are visible to everyone in your family group.
• Notes and personal calendar events stay private to your account.
• Anyone with your family invite code can join your group — share it only with people you trust, and treat it like a password.

3. Location sharing consent

Location sharing is optional. By tapping “Share my location” you consent to your family group seeing your approximate position and the time it was last updated. You may stop sharing and delete your stored location at any time. Do not use FOB to track anyone without their knowledge and consent.

4. Acceptable use

• Do not upload unlawful, harassing, hateful or infringing content.
• Do not attempt to access data belonging to families you are not a member of, or probe, scan or disrupt the service.
• Do not use the app to harass, surveil or endanger any person.

5. Your content

You own the content you create. You grant us the limited licence needed to store, process and display it so the app works for you and your family group. We do not sell your content or use it for advertising.

6. Free plan, free month and subscriptions

• Every new account gets Family Plus free for its first 30 days, with no payment details needed. After that, groups without a subscription move to the Free plan.
• The Free plan includes one family group and one friend group with up to eight members each, and core features. Some features, such as the live map, recurring tasks, custom rewards, chat history older than 90 days and text alerts, are part of Family Plus.
• Family Plus is billed monthly ($4.99) or every 6 months ($24.99). If you subscribe during your free month, the first charge happens when the free month ends. Billing changes take effect immediately and are pro-rated.
• You can cancel at any time from the billing portal. Access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for. Except where required by law, payments are not refundable for partial periods.
• One member's Family Plus subscription applies to every member of the groups they belong to.

7. Text messages (SMS)

If you add a mobile number and agree to receive texts, FOB sends account and group alerts such as task assignments, ownership requests and plan updates. Texting is optional and not required to use FOB.

• Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.
• Reply STOP to cancel at any time; you'll get one confirmation and no further texts. Reply HELP for help, email support@familyoperatingbase.com, or turn texts off on your Account page.
• Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
• Full details, including how to opt in, are on our SMS Terms page (familyoperatingbase.com/sms). See our Privacy Policy for how we handle your number. We never share it for marketing.

8. Availability and changes

We may add, change or remove features, and we may suspend accounts that violate these terms. We will give reasonable notice of material changes to these terms or to paid plan pricing.

9. Disclaimers and liability

FOB is provided “as is.” It is an organisation and coordination tool and is not a safety, security or emergency service — never rely on it in an emergency. To the extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

10. Termination

You may stop using FOB and request deletion of your account at any time. We may terminate accounts that breach these terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will continue to apply.
